拍拍出

Privacy policy

拍拍出 (Snapee) is an iOS app made by Yusen Zhang. You photograph a piece of second-hand clothing, an AI model reads what it is, you confirm the details, and the app suggests a price and writes two listings for you to post. You don’t need an account. This page explains exactly what leaves your phone, where it goes, and what stays on the device.

What stays on your device

The app keeps one draft at a time on your iPhone, in its own storage: the photos you took or picked, the details the model read, your edits and answers, the suggested price and the listing text. That is what the “recent, unfinished” card on the home screen shows so you can pick up where you left off. The draft is replaced when you start on another item and deleted when you delete it in the app or remove the app. The app doesn’t write anything to your photo library, and copying a listing only puts the text on your iPhone’s clipboard. Two more things stay on the device only: the time you agreed to send photos to the AI (you can withdraw it any time under the “?” button) and how many readings you have done today (at most 20 per device per day, reset at midnight).

Recognizing a garment

When you ask the app to identify your own photos, it sends them to the Doubao vision model on Volcengine’s Ark platform (火山引擎方舟), a cloud service operated by Beijing Volcano Engine Technology Co., Ltd. in mainland China. Up to three photos go out: the whole garment, the care or brand label, and a close-up of any flaw. Each is first shrunk to a JPEG no larger than 1280 pixels on its long side and re-encoded, which drops the original camera metadata such as location. The request also carries the app’s instructions to the model and the technical details every internet request carries, such as your IP address. The model answers with what it read: the item name, category, brand, size, material, condition and visible flaws.

After you confirm, the app sends the same service a second request with text only: the details you confirmed and your answers (how much the item was worn, whether it has hidden issues, how you want to ship it, and, if you filled them in, the purchase price and whether you have a receipt). The photos aren’t sent again. The service returns the suggested price range and the listing text.

The three built-in sample garments never contact the network; their results are stored in the app.

Who receives this data

Your photos go straight from your phone to Volcengine. There is no server of ours in between, and we don’t receive or see your photos or your listings. Volcengine processes the request to run the model, and what it keeps and for how long is governed by the Volcengine privacy policy (in Chinese). We don’t add your name, contact details or any device identifier to the request, and we don’t use the service to track you.

Where this data is processed

Volcengine’s Ark service runs in mainland China, so if you use the app elsewhere, your photos and the confirmed details are processed outside your country or region.

Camera and photo access

The app asks for camera access only when you tap the camera button, and uses the system photo picker when you choose from your library, which shows the app only the photos you pick. You can change both in iOS Settings at any time.

What we don’t do

Children

拍拍出 is for a general audience. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

Use the built-in samples to try the app without sending anything. Delete the draft in the app, or remove the app, to clear everything it stores. For requests about data Volcengine holds, its privacy policy explains how to contact it; we can’t retrieve or delete those requests ourselves, since we never receive them.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes how it handles data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
